Senior Service Military Relations Missionaries (SSMRM)
can serve a part-time mission in their home stake as an individual or as a couple. These opportunities are typically available in agent stakes for a military installation or stakes with a significant military population. Can be couples or individuals. These missionaries serve at an installation located near their home. Before applying, a need must be established for the installation. Contact the Senior Service Military Relations Coordinators prior to applying.

Qualifications for Missionary Service
· Possession of a valid retired or active-duty military ID card or government ID card is required.
· A current Temple Recommend.
· Ability to serve 8-20 hours a week
· Understand Military life, culture and Federal Installation etiquette.
· They serve under the priesthood keys of a stake president (SSMRMs).
· They serve on a stake military relations committee under the priesthood keys of a stake president.
· They receive administrative and logistical support from the Church’s military relations office HQ SLC.
· They work in cooperation with military and interfaith leaders and abide by military regulations.
· Basic computer skills (email, internet usage, word processing, spreadsheets and video conferencing).
· They require a monthly report of service activity and ministry efforts that bring military families and individuals closer to the savior.
· A military installation is a non-proselytizing environment.
Responsibilities of Military Relations Senior Missionaries
Live the gospel of Jesus Christ and be of good physical and mental health
Be an example of a disciple of Jesus Christ to the military community.
Provide volunteer service to service organizations on the military installation.
Foster understanding and support with military chaplains and commanders.
Care for those in need and attend ward or branch council meetings when invited
Coordinate with MRMs, SSMRMs and Church leaders when a PCS move is made to facilitate a smooth transition.
Visit all military families, before, during and after military deployments.
Assist ward leaders in their efforts with the My covenant path lessons for new or inactive military members.
Share the Gospel using Preach My Gospel, in conjunction with the full-time missionaries, with military, veterans and their families.
Facilitate lessons from Becoming a Self-Reliant and Resilient Family for military families seeking to develop self-reliance, resilience, and to grow their discipleship of Jesus Christ during their frequent life transitions in the military.
As assigned by stake leaders, teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to YSA military institute classes.
As assigned by stake leaders, facilitate Healing through the Savior; addiction recovery classes for military members, veterans and families.
